So if you use my guide, hopefully all the above mentioned problems should be fixed using this method. The good news is, I found out it was not Steam’s fault, but the problem was happening on the user’s computer end (my end). I wanted to know why, so I literally spent all day trying to figure it out and find the answer. That let me know that it wasn’t on Steam’s end. I was currently running Steam on the Windows 8 operating system, and now suddenly it wouldn’t work any more, but on my other computer using Windows XP it worked just fine. The strangest part was that just earlier that exact day I had been playing Killing Floor, and once I quit my Steam got stuck in Offline mode. I just kept on getting the same error message that Steam was Offline and that I needed to go online. I even tried re-installing and re -downloading Steam, but that only made it worse and I couldn’t even open the program after that.
